Please consider these helpful tips when choosing a cleaning service for your home or business.

Once you have selected several home and/or business cleaning services, schedule an interview with each one. During this time you can verify the company’s License, Bonding, Insurance, and Workman’s Comp Insurance. Professional and legitimate companies will have no problem with showing you these items and should provide you with copies at your request.

The cleaning company you choose should answer any questions that you may have. Ensure that you allow enough time to complete a comprehensive interview.

Ask for referrals and references of the cleaning business from past and existing customers. Verify the referrals and research with the local agencies the length of time that the individual or company has been in business.

Be sure to confirm that the cleaning company pays all of their labor related taxes and insurance. If not, the liability and responsibility will lie with you.

The cleaning company should provide their policies and scope of work in writing. While there may be a Customer Agreement form, there are no reasons that you should have to agree to any long term of service or sign a contract.

Sometimes your first meeting with a cleaning company will be with the owner or one of their hired estimators. If this occurs, ask for the opportunity to meet the cleaner(s) who will be servicing your home or business. You may be asked to be present during the first cleaning in order to do so. This is a great opportunity observe their level of professionalism and general demeanor. Punctuality, courtesy, and respect, as well as the ability to communicate are some of the most important attributes to look for.

Communication is very important for both you and your cleaner(s). Share insights after each cleaning as necessary. A professional balance of positive and negative communication is key to the working relationship. Above all, if they did a fantastic job, tell them! They will likely keep up the good work.

In conclusion, be respectful of your cleaner(s) policies regarding payments, reschedules, and cancellations. They do work hard for the money, and for you.
